for 2024 and 2025 am getting message that background update could not be installed. does not allow a manual updatee

2024 & 2025 Background updater could not be installed. Cannot update manually will not allow. Will also not allow to disable auto update.

Hi @beng thanks for posting in the Community about the background updates not installing. We’d try first running Lacerte as admin:

If it doesn't then run the web setup for Lacerte as admin:

Click Start (Windows icon) or press the Windows key.
In the search box, type Lacerte web setup.
Right-click the correct year of the web setup and select Run as administrator.
After running the web setup, open Lacerte and see if it works.

If not, use the Lacerte Tool Hub to Force install:
