efile reject for deceased spouse

Do I need to do something different this year to efile a joint return with a deceased spouse.  I'm getting an efile  reject indicating Social Security shows the spouse is deceased and the account is now locked.

Sounds like paper tax return.

What year did the spouse die in?  I've done several joint tax returns this year for spouses who have passed away during 2021 AND passed away in February 2022 and have never gotten an error message like that.  Did you verify the date of death?  If the spouse passed away in 2020, then the error message is correct.....you can't include them on a 2021 tax return.
