Question

Does Lacerte automatically attach a copy of the amended federal tax return when a California amended return is e-filed or does the preparer have to attach it?

I believe a whole copy of everything is attached. Once you have created the e-file, but not yet sent it, you can use e-file > e-file support tools > view efile to scroll through all the bits and pieces that are being sent. It takes a strong heart to look at all that gobbledygook but it is doable.
