taxpayer needs to use two different checking accounts to pay the tax due.  I can't figure out how to tell Lacerte to take a smaller amount from one account for the tax due.  so the question is, can Lacerte accomodate the payment of tax from two different checking accounts

They can make two payments in 24 hour period at https://www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay

Lacerte does not allow multiple accounts for PAYMENT.

Why not move the money into one account?

yes that sounds like the simple answer, but the transfer was not from a regular checking account, and transfer involved a sale of stock first, and another 5 business day delay to post the money out because his bank wanted to hold the money for 5 business days to insure the funds cleared.  Taxpayer did not want to take a chance on being late and getting penalties.  the tax due on the federal was almost $175,000 which of course he did not keep that much in his checking account.

so the bottom line was he could not draft it out of two accounts.  Maybe Lacerte can make that happen in the future updates.
