Colorado Changes to my eFiled return

Hi all -

I filed a 2024 CO part-year tax return on 3/14/25.  The client received a notice, so when I unlocked the return to exam it, I noticed changes to the return that did not match the efiled return and cannot figure out how it changed.  The CO 104PN return allocation percentage was changed to a much lower percentage which does not make sense.   The math doesn't add up correctly.

I called Lacerte tech and was told there were changes to Lacerte in Mar/April from the "coders", but the agent couldn't really tell me the exact change it made.

Has anyone else seen this and was able to determine what happened?

When you lock a file it is safe from any changes.  However, once you turn the key to open it, numbers are subject to change if there were updates that affected the return.  All you can do is compare the current return line by line to the original return ----- assuming you have a pdf or paper copy of the return that was originally filed.

Thanks!  Good to know when I unlock the return, the updates happen to the return.

I did compare the original PDF return and found it doesn't match on line 31 of the PN, which is why the percentage was changed.

Since the Lacerte coder's made updates to the CO return, now I'm wondering if this unlocked return is correct and I need to amend the originally filed?

You will need to go over the original return, CO's letter, and the current version of the return on the software to figure out what is correct.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
