Can Lacerte/Intuit handle client document requests, reminders, workflow tracking, e-signatures, payments, and scheduling without needing separate practice management software like TaxDome or Canopy?
We are a small CPA firm currently using Intuit Lacerte as our primary tax software, along with QuickBooks for client payments. Before purchasing an additional practice management platform such as TaxDome or Canopy, we are trying to determine which features may already be available to us through Lacerte and the Intuit products we currently pay for.
Our main goal is to improve our workflow for the upcoming tax season, particularly:
- Sending tax organizers/document checklists to clients
- Secure client document uploads
- Tracking documents/information that are still missing
- Automatically reminding clients to submit outstanding tax documents
- Sending earlier tax-season reminders to avoid clients waiting until late March/early April
- Engagement letters and e-signatures
- Tracking the status of returns throughout preparation/review
- Client billing and QuickBooks Payments
- Client appointment reminders/scheduling
- Google Calendar integration
We have been researching Intuit Link and Intuit Sign and it appears that some of these capabilities may already be included with Lacerte.
For firms using Lacerte, how much of this process can realistically be handled within the Intuit/Lacerte ecosystem?
Are there features within Lacerte, Intuit Link, Intuit Sign, QuickBooks Payments, or other Intuit products that we may be overlooking?
Ideally, we would like to utilize what we already pay for rather than add another major software subscription if Lacerte/Intuit can accomplish most of what we need.
I would especially appreciate hearing how other small Lacerte firms handle client document collection, missing-document reminders, workflow/status tracking, and appointment reminders during tax season.
