I just spoke with a Lacerte advisor regarding the release of CA Form 540 and Federal Forms 8995 and 8960. I was advised that these forms may not be available until February 18. Our firm has numerous returns ready to file, and many taxpayers are waiting on their refunds. A delay of this length is unreasonable. Please expedite the release of these forms.

Would not surprise me if this is being done to eventually get rid of Lacerte and offer basically ProSeries by stating after tax season that they had some real problems with the program and will not offer it next year but will give you a reduced price on ProSeries for one year.

If that's the case, there is ZERO chance I would go with ANY Intuit tax product.  Intuit has "dumbed down" lacerte and is basically and "add on" sales company.  I've been using lacerte for 25+ years.  I miss the old lacerte before Intuit took over.

currently the CA form 540 is unavailable and I called tech support and asked if we could bypass the system and print it out but they could not do it.  I currently have 10 tax returns that cannot be processed which is creating a cash flow problem for me.  I was able to complete 5 tax returns from Arizona, Nevade and Oregon but not the 10 California tax returns.  The year 2025 was not a good year for many of my clients with some of them still not being able to pay me for their 2024 Income Tax returns.  This delay is very hurtful.  My daughter in law who I work with says that the FTB form 540 is approved on the California FTB site so I am confused as to why the delay.  This is very frustrating to say the least. .

CA forms have been final and are being utilized by all the other software companies that I have inquired of.  They have been able to file forms since opening day, with the exception of a couple forms that were not final for a day or two. Lacerte has not done the scheduled update for yesterday, 2/4/2025.  LACERTE IS NOW PROJECTING THAT THE NEXT UPDATE WILL NOT BE UNTIL AT LEAST THE 10TH OF FEBRUARY.  At least one of their other, if not 2 out of the 4,  tax software packages have the forms for CA and people are able to file and Print entire returns no problem.

THIS IS 100% A LACERTE ISSUE.  The fact that they did not send out yesterdays scheduled update AND they have not sent any information to those of us that have bought this product, is more than negligent.  Bad business to treat their customers so unprofessionally.  I have been using this product for over 35 years.  We will finally be making an exodous this year.  It is one thing to blow it or have issues, but it is entirely another to leave us all hanging without any information AND to make the updated forms available for their other software packages.  They obviously do not value their Lacerte customers.

Any Chance Fed Form 8995 will be released. IRS website says instruction in Final Form Jan 26 and I have 30 returns to file that need to not have a critical Diagnostic saying that the instructions are in draft form
