3468 Pt III box B - How to trigger?

Client installed solar electric system on residential rental.  I entered cost on Scr 34 which triggers the credit on 3468, Pt III, line 4a, but the form has Box A - Non-Passive Activity marked.  How do I mark Box B - Passive Activity instead?

On Screen 34, in Credits section, in Form field, select Schedule E (rental/royalty).
