Question

Duplicate transactions in the bank feed after the bank reconnected, best way to clean up without breaking reconciliation?

Hi all,

I manage the books for several small-business clients in QuickBooks Online Accountant. One client's bank connection dropped last month. After it was reconnected, the feed pulled in about 60 transactions that were already categorized and matched, so now they show up again under "For Review."

What I've checked so far:

  • The dates and amounts match the existing entries exactly.
  • The previous months are already reconciled.
  • Excluding them one by one works, but it's time-consuming and I'm worried about missing one.

My questions:

  1. Is there a faster way to bulk-exclude or match these duplicates without touching the reconciled periods?
  2. If I exclude them, can that cause problems with the next reconciliation or the beginning balance?
  3. Has anyone found a way to keep this from happening when a bank connection is re-authenticated?

I'm on QBO Advanced, and the client banks with a large national bank. Any workflow tips or lessons learned would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
