I understand if I haven't used the program in a while, you should verify that I am the user. And I understand if I have left it open and not moved the mouse in hours. But when I have been in and out of files all day and back and forth through files and different years and individual and partnership files, it gets old very quickly to have to grab the cell phone every time I switch files and get the code and type it in as well as the password.Security is important, but let's consider here whether someone is really going to steal all the files or all the information just because you require an extra step. People also leave their cellular telephones lying around on their desks at work, so that's not going to guarantee safety.
If you use Lacerte and have some clients that you keep depreciation using Lacerte's internal depreciation module. It seems that the IL 4562 Line 10 is not correct. It should be the 2022 depreciation calculated as if no 100% special depreciation was claimed on that specific asset in 2021 or 2022. It seems to be grabbing the bonus depreciation that was claimed in the 2017 - 2020 tax years and creating a subtraction for these years also, which I think is incorrect (since there was no IL addition in those years). The subtraction for 50% special depreciation (line 7A) seems correct. The only solution I have found is to go through the Prior Special Depreciation assets and for the 2017-2020 year assets only move the amount from "Prior Special Depreciation" to "Prior Bonus Depreciation" (federal column, St if Diff is blank). Leave the older assets where 50% special depreciation was used unchanged. I have never understood the difference between these 2 boxes in Lacerte, bonus and special are the same word to me, but there must be some issue or maybe the coding in the software uses one and not the other. Of course Lacerte's customer support was a joke.
For Esignitures: when someone esigns their 8879 forms for efiling I need an easier way to see who is finished - a column for completed and also a column for downloaded the file. I want to open the dashboard and see all my individual and entities in one spot and not have to go through each one to see who completed their e-signature. Column - e-signature completed | Column - E-Signature not completed | Column - E- signature downloaded [insert checkmark manually] basically, I want to be able to keep better track of who has and who has not completed their e-signature forms.
If an amount is entered as a state tax in screen 13, it should be added back to the NJ form 1065 on page 2 line 13. It currently requires a second entry in screen 38.
Jocelyn was great helping me resolve my installation issues. I would not have been able to do it without her.
Apparently we have to key in the partner details for whoever is signing the state Powers of Attorney.... since all the details exist in the partner screens, can you add a check box at the top of the partner screens for the ones signing the POAs so we don't have to type the same info in for each state return - and have the system pull the necessary details???This one is kind of a no-brainer.Also... since we all know the POA's get filed separately, maybe have that as an acknowledgement someplace in the company set up file, rather than have it generate a diagnostic?
A CA RDP return, but for RI each taxpayer files single. This means that the RI returns must be done before OSTC calculation for CA. Then that combined RI taxable income is input as an override for CA Schedule S.There is no way to get the OSTC and the CA 540 correct. Either one or the other can be correct because the OSTC is automatically calculated based on the State indicators. And the Schedule CA adjustments, to Part I, Section B, Line 5 are also based on the state indicators.
..how about the program logs you into the internet. Instead of having to log into stuff over & over.
When last years fee is selected as a column on the client display screen last years fee is ************'d out just like the social security number column is when the client is password protected. I can completely understand why the social security number is *****'d out and that makes sense. To screen out last year's fee makes no sense. There are other fields that are also screened out besides the social security number when cleints are password protected.
