Custom Homebase for State ReturnsNew

The Federal HomeBase options are wonderful.  We would like to see the same options for state returns as well.  It would be helpful for us tax professionals in Texas with efiled Texas Franchise Reports and the webfile numbers. Thank you -James

Excess Social Security W/H DiagnosticNew

To eliminate error for excess social security withholding there should be an info diagnostic warning that a credit for excess withholding has been generated. This would specifically warn a preparer to go back and check the W2s to make sure the taxpayer/spouse box has been accurately checked.

Autofill of name and social security numbers of taxpayer, spouse, dependents Where Required on Other Areas of InputImplemented

Autofill the rest of the return for taxpayer, spouse and dependent names and social security numbers after the initial input on the Client Information screen. For example, for health insurance coverage that is mandatory in NJ, CA and possibly other States, the names on the returns along with their corresponding social security or ITIN numbers pop up and are selected. This eliminates the need to input this information again, especially if one has to go to the Client Information input pane to obtain such information.

These entry screens should link back to taxpayer and dependent data so that names and socials dont need to be manually entered. There should be a pull down to select covered people.

In the returns menu (at least in individual returns), one item is "Depreciation". For someone trying to find where to enter amortization, a search for "amortization" fails. I suggest that the item "Depreciation" be relabeled as "Depreciation & Amortization".

I need a way to mark a submitted client document as complete when I'm processing their documents. When a client has many documents, it is difficult or impossible (depending on number of documents) to know which have been input. Thanks

It would be good to have a box or radio button that you can check off when the item you are entering manually can be checked off.  This way you don't have to make sure every time you go back into the return.  Either on the tax organizer or the intuit link screen or both. There already is a box there to check but  you can only download, delete or rename. thank you

wouldn't these 3 print tabs be more efficient to select if there were 3 columns next to the words, and NOT have to go thru the list 3 separate times; this would be MUCH more efficient - long time user, please reach out if you cannot visualize what i am saying ( would look like an excel spreadsheet, where u check boxes in 3 columns, and have a check all at the top of each column

PTO UI "Tab" Re-OrderingDiscussion ongoing

I know this request may sound silly, but for firms producing tax returns over multiple years for clients would benefit by it. There are screens in PTO with "tabs" (W2, 1099, Sch E properties...).  After multiple years' of processing a client's tax return, these tabs could be better organized (we're accountants and generally OCD).  Having the ability to "move" the tabs (left/right in order sequence), like a web browser, would allow me to sleep better.

For business returns, when printing K-1 packages to PDF, please consider adding the name of the business return in front of the partner/shareholder in the file name.  This would go a long way in helping keep K-1 packages organized.  For example:  K-1 Business Name LLC: Joe Partner.PDFThanks!

Client Letter - Alabama PPT Return - No Instructions in Client Letter for Individual ReturnsDiscussion ongoing

This is my third year requesting that instructions for mailing Alabama form PPT be added back to the 1040 client instruction letter. Issue: Taxpayers with an Alabama LLC taxed as a sole proprietorship have to file a form PPT each year. ProConnect generates this return, but does not efile it. In Diagnostics there is a "Suggestion" informing me of this.  Previous to July 2020 there was also a paragraph in the client letter informing the client that this return had to be mailed.  This instruction disappeared in June or July of 2020. I have been asking for this instruction to be added back to the letter since that date. NOTE THAT these instructions still appear for entity returns (1065, 1120-S), where a paragraph instructs the taxpayer to mail the form. But the instructions are not included in the client letter for individual tax returns. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS OVERSIGHT THAT NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED. PLEASE ADD THIS INSTRUCTION BACK TO THE CLIENT LETTER FOR INDIVIDUAL RETURNS.    PLEASE update the 1040 client letter to instruct the client to mail AL form PPT. We need this prompting to remind the client that mailing is required!

A confirmation that an electronic tax payment was successfully transmitted. The help boards said to look for the e-file payment record as confirmation; however, this form generates BEFORE filing the return. A confirmation, much like an e-file confirmation, would be reassuring.

In the client set up process, it would be nice to select Jr. , Sr.,  iii , etc. suffix for client names.  I have had a few clients and the only place to enter the suffix is the official tax return.  However when I send the client Intuit Link, sometimes the client is upset because they think I am forgetting their suffix, which in fact it is not available or I have to put it in the section (First Name or Last Name).  I think if you could click a suffix box associated to the client then it would automatically add it to the all forms or features in the Intuit software.

Within the IPM work item, you can link to the tax return in PTO but it would be nice to also have the reverse... a link to the IPM work item from PTO. Maybe it could be located in the right side panel where the import and flagged item functions are.

Would be extremely helpful to add a dark mode toggle for PTO because the white screen is so bright at times that it strains and hurts your eyes after a while, especially as a tax prepare we stare at the bright screen for long hours.

Some institutions, such as mortgage lenders, require a form 9325. The e-file confirmation letter in ProConnect is not sufficient for these purposes. Since it is a form supported by other Intuit programs it would be good to have added on.

Very much appreciate the lock return feature. Would like to suggest some improvements:We should be able to manually lock a return. If I am filing a return on paper, there is no way to trigger the return lock. Also, if I unlock a filed return and decide not to make any changes, I cannot re-lock it.Filing an IT-204-LL should not lock the return, I don't always file them at the same time I am filing the full returnWe should have the option to prevent an auto-lock (for example in when filing an IT-204-LL).If a return is really locked, there should be no changes to the print at all from the original return. Right now things like dates, etc, update with the return when I print a copy of a locked  return. How can I really trust no other changes have been made if that stuff changes?

Upper case and mixed case printingDiscussion ongoing

Currently there is a setting under Misc. to convert the case to upper case. I propose:The uppercasing be only applied to my entered data, for example, name, address, etc. Currently it converts everything in worksheets to uppercase with this setting, and it is ugly when a whole page is in upper case letters.Even for my own data, please allow me to turn off the upper case for long text input field, such as explanations in amended return for the aesthetical reason stated above.Please support this idea if you care about beauty and the idea in my signature. Thanks.
