To Whom it May Concern,

In Pro Tax Connect, when entering Box 5 Social Security Benefits, the user is allowed to enter both numbers and letters.

When letters are added the system disregards any numbers and assumes zero resulting in the understatement of taxable income.

I've prepared a reviewed 3,000 returns over the past decade.  I never made the error of entering a stray letter where a number should be.  Then, I missed it on review.

I would suggest, if possible, to have the system critical error flag if letters are entered in a number only field.

Thank you and regards,

If you are trying to enter the description for the benefits, you would hit the "+" to get the pop-up box.  You will then have a description input and an amount box.

Intuit_Kallana,

This has nothing to do with the description field.

This is about how the program allows you to input letters along with numbers in what is clearly are input cells that should only be an amount.   In my case I erroneously input 25,266SD when I should have only entered 25,266.
