Set Federal 5227 to default e-file
When using 2024 LaCerte, our options are set for 'Default to E-file' = Yes. However; the Federal Form 5227 which is required for all Charitable Remainder Unitrusts and Charitable Lead Trusts and is required to be electronically filed, per the IRS, the General Client Information does not automatically flag the Federal 5227 for e-file.
Proposing an enhancement to automatically check the Federal 5227 when the 'Default to E-file' is set to Yes. This eliminates manual entry for a company who prepares 2,000+ Federal 5227s. Without this checkbox checked, we are not able to efficiently process returns electronically.
