Q1 Est. Tax Payments Auto-withdraw after Deadline

As long as I have been using Lacerte, only the estimated tax payments that were not past due would be drafted from the taxpayer's account. Two days ago, I filed a taxpayer's return after the estimated payment deadline, and the first quarter estimated payments were drafted out of the taxpayer's account.

There was no diagnostic or note from Lacerte that showed the change to the treatment of estimated tax payments. Is anyone else having this problem with Lacerte? After calling Lacerte, the representative told me that it would be part of a full update in the future, but this was only being experimented with certain users.

Did you suppress the 1st quarter payments in the 2026 estimates screen? When I put in the '-1' for none on first quarter, I get the diagnostic that says "The estimated tax payment dated 4/15/2026 will not be paid electronically due to an override in screen 7".

Well, IRS does tell you "After the due date, the payment date must be the same as the date the return is transmitted, or be within the previous five days of that date."
