Overwritten tax return

I have (or my software has) overwritten an efiled tax return with a new one.  How do I fix this?

restore original return from a backup, then check acknowledgments?

    What do you mean by "overwritten"?  The software is known to change returns if there is a subsequent update that fixes an error.  So are you saying there was a potential change due to an update, or is it now a return that you don't recognize based on what you previously inputted?
