Form 8825 real estate taxes problem

The problem:

Form 8825 now only has a line for "real estate taxes" rather than just "taxes".  The old program was better, because in the current day and age, a lot of the taxes paid for rentals is either California FTB  tax $800 a year, (or more importantly, pass thru entity elective tax).  Neither of these types of taxes are deductible for state tax purposes (but they are deductible for Federal).  So, we need Lacerte to either:

1.  Add another line to the rental screen for "taxes other than real estate".  Then add a new line at the bottom of the screen entitled "taxes other than real estate, state if different".

2.  Or, alternatively  Lacerte should finally break down and add a new column, to the right of the first column entitled "state, if different", that would apply to every single line item on the rental screen (including the "other expenses" section that you access with Control E.

I just called Lacerte technical support, they have no suggestions, and instructed me to access these feedback forum.

This is a significant issue, affecting nearly any LLC in California that's engaged in the rental business, as well as filings for other states that have pass thru entity elective tax.

It seems that other users have previously commented about this issue, but no action has been taken.  When we may expect this to be corrected?

Yes, I too just called Lacerte about this issue and they told me to comment here.   Even if they don't show the state taxes on a separate line item on the Form 8825 since that has to be approved by the IRS, they need a line on the input page, so it can make the state adjustments automatically like they had it before.  They could then point the state tax expense to the other deduction line on the Form 8825 and use the State Amount (if different, -1=none*) at the bottom of the input page like it was used in the past.

Following - For now I guess I have to enter State LLC tax and PTE tax as Real Estate Taxes

You cannot just enter the taxes under "other expenses" - this does NOT work.  You have no way to adust it on the state returns if it's not deductible.  When is lacerte going to fix this??????  It's been over 2 weeks that this idea was submitted.

Needs to get fixed as soon as possible! There is currently know way to correctly report state and PTE taxes for rental real estate.

Even if you put the state tax under the M-1, it's not calculating the M-1 or 8825 correctly on the state return. It would be nice if Lacerte would at least say they are going to fix it so we know if we should wait.
