I am working on a NYS estate tax return (form ET-706) for an estate of someone who died in early 2024. I originally did the data entry in Lacerte 2023. As I was finalizing the tax returns, I saw the NYS exemption used by Lacerte was incorrect (it used 2023 exemption not 2024). I understand that I am using the 2023 program BUT it seems to be an error by Lacerte not to use the exemption that correlates with the year the decedent died.
