Error in Calculations on Married Filing Joint vs Married Filing Separate Comparison Worksheet

When filing separately, a married person's social security income is always fully taxable. However, Lacerte's worksheet is calculating the social security income as not taxable when the taxpayer or spouse's income is low enough for the benefits to not be taxable if this was their joint income. If anyone is relying on the comparison for decision making, they will be in for an unpleasant surprise when they actually file the tax returns.

Intuit, please fix this error so all tax preparers are provided with the correct information.

Thank you,

Did you indicate they live with spouse?

The more I know the more I don’t know.
