Cover letter issues re: IRAs and Roth IRAs post-4/15
I've long had issues with the automatic change to the cover letter post-April 15 re: the omission of contributions for IRAs and Roth IRAs. I want such contributions on the records, so to speak, so the client knows we've taken such contributions into account whether for a deduction or Saver's Credit. But in "Presidentially" declared disaster areas, clients have until October 15 to make such contributions, and it's more important than ever to include our usual paragraphs on making such contributions because we already have one of these and may have a lot more (I'm in L.A. County, where nearly everything is extended for everyone).
All Lacerte has to do this year is have a "checkbox" for due date applicable to IRAs and Roth's. Then, change the program going forward and simply allow us to include the "usual" paragraphs for IRAs and Roth's post-April 15 at our discretion.
