California requirement for a federal Form 8283
When the taxpayer takes the federal std. deduction but itemizes for their California Form 540 and their itemized deductions include non-cash charitable contributions exceeding $500, CA requires that Form 8283 be completed and attached to the CA Form 540. This requirement is similar to the "California Only" Schedule A that also must be attached.
Currently, the Lacerte I-tax program attaches the Schedule A, but not the Form 8283. The preparer must therefore attach the 8283 by creating a PDF copy of the 8283 and attaching it using the PDF attachment tool on screen 4.1.
I would like to suggest that Lacerte automate this process as is already done for the California Schedule A.
