I'm working on an Illinois partnership return. Illinois is one of the states that allows pass-through entity (PTE) withholding. This client did NOT make PTE payments for the current year, but I would like to set them up to make quarterly payments for next year. There is no way in the system to have the letter/vouchers print out that way without making the PTE election for the current year which would be very problematic. After 2 hours on the phone with support, we found a very cumbersome workaround, but that's not a good solution and will make a big mess if you make any changes to the return. There needs to be a way to indicate that the entity will be elect to pay quarterly PTE tax for the next year and have the letter and estimates generate accordingly.

What was the workaround?  I have two entities that we need to give them estimates but not make the pte election for 2022?
