Your software should have an automatic email sent to clients and our firm's email address for efile acceptance acknowledgements from taxing agencies and reflected on a screen showing all returns but being able to be filtered by tax type:

Not sure I would want an auto-send on this unless it was to auto-send acceptances only.  If a rejection occurs, I would prefer to review the rejection first before notifying the client.  Sometimes the rejection is a software update issue or other non-client issue that can be remedied without the client needing to be involved.

Otherwise, I like the auto-send on acceptances idea.

Naturally only  for acceptances  !!! Respectfully  as I can say this Lacerte and other tax software developers need to realize CPAs and other tax practitioners are in the selling of time business. We don't need to have volumious emails, text messages, and phone calls asking " Was my tax return accepted" I changed over to Lacerte because Ultratax while it worked well kept bombing out and shutting down on me. But my clients are now used to the feature and as one of your new customers that coverted from Ultratax as well stated "Im going to get hundreds of  phone calls asking if my tax return was accepted

I can definitely see where you are coming from.  I have been using Lacerte for many (many) years.  We have conditioned our clients with the verbiage that we generally receive confirmation of the e-filing within 24-48 hours and that we will notify them ONLY IF there is a confirmation other than accepted.  Although this may be a "conditioning" approach for you, it works beautifully in our firm even with the 300-500 new clients we gain each year.

With that, it would still be great to have that affirmation go directly to the client via email for acceptances.  BUT, it would also be nice for us to be able to turn that feature off either globally or on a client-by-client basis as not all clients will want this information sent - especially if they have never had it before.

Thanks for sharing.
