After filing an extension with a payment, the E-file log should show a record of the payment sent so we can look it up. The Efile log shows payments for Individual filings but not busness filings

I filed multiple extensions for S Corps and Partnerships. Some included payments sent with the extension. As I was finalizing a business return that I had completed in September, the State return showed a balance due. I thought I had paid it with the extension but when I looked it up in the file a return tab it did not show the payment or the amount sent. It only showed that the extension was accepted. I than looked it up in the Efile tab and again no reference to any payment sent or the amount sent. I had to call in to question where to find it as I did not save it to an external file. The Customer Service person was kind and informed me there is no place to look it up once the return has been changed from the extension filing. But she was able to look it up for me with the submission number. I was happy to know that I did make the payment with the extension but I could have overpaid the amount due if I did not call to find out. I feel this is a very important part of filing to make sure that payments were sent at the time of the filing and to have assurance especially if 5 months have gone by. I also feel that if I wanted to look up the return years later I should be able to have some information on when and how much the payment was.

Thank you and I hope to see this as a new update in the coming 2025 software update.

You should always sav pdf copies of the extensions, too.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

New user here. I agree and will do in the future. I am used to other programs having detail information in the e-file log. It was very confusing when the Form MA 355-7004 had changed in the program and did automatically update the return.
