Professional tax software is designed to provide more sophisticated options and toggles not otherwise available in consumer products so that tax pros can exercise their own professional judgement and customize the returns.

If this is what is expected, there's no limit to what professional tax software will need to prompt tax professionals.

It's only expected because they already prompt other items. At the price Intuit charges for this they should continue to offer more prompts. If not, then that would justify switching to competitors if all you need is professional knowledge for all software's.

Even much pricier software used by Big 4 don't prompt for that.

If a University based Tax Prep SW can prompt it (Glacier Tax prep), I think Intuit can add it.

These university tax apps are designed to cater to the student population and that's why you'd see that in the app.  At the same time, these are not capable professional tax programs and can't handle anything more complex.

No harm suggesting but Intuit has got bigger fish they haven't yet fried.
